T: Struggling with being a boring nerd…

So ladies and gents I have a confession for you all…or y’all…however you want to phrase it… I AM A NON-FICTION NERD. There is nothing I like more than curling up with a great political bio, the latest social analysis of suicide bombers, a quick guide to the middle east, etc. I think you get the idea. Now, as much as I enjoy reading these things I am well aware that you may not share this passion…although I am determined to meet my future husband in the Political Science/ History/ Biography section at Chapters…which I am in every saturday if you know someone who might be interested/interesting 😉

All of that said I do love a good fictional if it can really grab me…so readers just as D. reached out to you for inspiration so am I – challenge me on my non-fictional superiority stance, send me some great fictional reads that you think could really sway me. You know, some real life changing eye openers that attest to the power of the written word.  I PROMISE to read them and quickly report back.

I will leave you with top 5 fave bios that I have read over the past few years:

5 – Che Guevera: A Revolutionary Life (Amazing book about a scary dude who did some great things and ALOT of not so great things…extremely even handed and will make you feel more comfortable with the hipsters wearing his face on their shirt.)

4- Citizen of the World: The life of Pierre Elliot Trudeau Part I (Dying to get to part two…c’mon paperback…)

3- Malice Toward None: The life of Abraham Lincoln (Very down to earth, well written and a whole new view on the man behind the quotes.)

2. Robert Kennedy : His Life (I laughed…I cried…I got a huge crush on Bobby Kennedy…I cried again…and I quote it on an almost daily basis. I could re-read this one again and again.)

…..DRUMROLL…. the number one bio…not surprisingly for anyone who knows me….

1- My Life: Bill Clinton (Amazing, must read…will also teach you so much about the American political process.)

Now, I know what you’re thinking – no women? Another challenge for you: send me a great bio about an amazing woman. Pamela Lee or Angelina Jolie do not count…Im talking political or humanitarian great.
